Llama Nails Nerd Challenge - Inspired By Star Wars

Greetings All!

Just a quick post tonight. I've not really watched Star Wars (does the Family Guy version count?), so these nails were always going to be a bit lame! Why am I doing this challenge, you may ask? I wanted to challenge myself! But it's hard when you don't really have the inspiration. I will try to do better!

See, it's pretty lame! It barely even counts as nail art at all. Innisfree Midnight Black, which almost saves it with it's awesomeness, with rubbish lightsabers in neon red and blue over white. I apologise, Star Wars fans.

Relaxed 31DC Week 26 - Inspired By A Pattern

Greetings All!

It's Double Challenge Friday! Lately it feels like I blink, and a week goes by! I've now been doing this challenge for six months, which feels...weird.

This week I'm taking inspiration from a pattern. I've interpreted this quite loosely, and painted some nails loosely based on blue and white china patterns. I've wanted to do this for a while, but I needed to pick the right blue polish (i.e. one that would stamp!).

I used Essie Waltz as a base, then stamped with Sally Hansen Thinking of Blue and GA28. I then attempted my first ever freehanded french tips, which didn't go too badly! I even took pictures of 'before' in case I really messed it up, but I think I did alright!

Only 5 more weeks to go with this challenge - eeek!

I'll be back later with some Nerdy Nials!

Little Stamped Roses

Greetings All!

Yes, I'm still very much into roses! It's weird, because I'm not really one for flowery decoration. My mum likes things with flowers on, but it's not really me. Unless it's on my nails of course, and then I love it! Mind you, I'm the same with pink, gold, pretty designs...it's like my nails don't know me at all!

The base is Barry M Pomegranate, which had been sitting untried for months, and I have no idea why! It's a lovely deep raspberry red, with the classic Barry M Gelly formula - 2 easy coats, crazy shine, all round awesome. I then stamped with Konad Black and GA29. I think the stamp design works well with these colours.

Tri Polish Challenge August 2013 - Manicure 2

Greetings All!

Welcome to the second installment of this month's TPC! The colours for August are red, yellow and green. Here is a reminder of the polishes I will be using for all four manicures:

OPI The Thrill of Brazil, The 'It' Color, and Jade is The New Black

This is my favourite manicure of the four!

I stamped the bird with TToB and BM315. I did think I had a better parrot stamp, so let's just say this one is a parrot, OK? I drew the palm trees with JiTNB, and also some random leaves on my pinky, which doesn't look weird at all lol. I still like this a lot though - I'm pretty happy with my palm trees, and the parrot is cute, even if it does look a bit like a smudge!

Crocodile Nails

Greetings All!

Just another quick stamped manicure to share with you. I've been looking for a good reptile stamp, and I found it in PUEEN10.

My base is Color Club Rule Breaker, a really lush metallic green. I stamped with Barry M Gold Foil and PUEEN10. So far these stamps are paying for themselves lol!

UK Indies - Nail Lacquer UK - Grape Juice

Greetings All!

I have yet another UK indie polish to show you today - I;m starting to build up quite the little collection! It's nice to support our local ladies, and to see them go from strength to strength!

Today I have a very, very special polish. It's called Grape Juice, and it rocks. This is 3 coats.

This is a pinky-purple jelly, filled to the brim with purple circle glitter, in three different sizes. Oh yes, and the largest ones are holographic. You may be able to notice that! The base is gorgeous - so juicy and squishy looking. The glitters came out with no problems - I had to 'swirl' a little for the larger ones, but I did get plenty! My nails have quite a strong curve, so I needed plenty of topcoat to smooth it all out, but that's fairly standard for such large glitter.

This polish is delicious! Perfect jelly base, loads of glitter, and huge holographic circles. I'm very happy right now!

You can buy your own Nail Lacquer UK polish here

Tri Polish Challenge August 2013 - Manicure 1

Greetings All!

It's that time again! Tri Polish Challenge time! This month the colours are red, yellow and green. I have to choose a polish to represent each colour, then create four manicures using those three polishes. Here are the polishes I will be using all this month.

OPI The Thrill of Brazil, The 'It' Color, and Jade Is The New Black.

What a shocker - my most used, and 'go to' red and yellow (see fill line lol). I do like it when all my polishes match, so I chose my favourite OPI green too!

Here is today's manicure.

I wanted to try sugar spun nails again, although this one wasn't as successful as last time! I used W7 Black as my base (which is allowed!) and also some matte topcoat. It was a fine line between getting the polish thick enough to 'spin', and it going into horrible blobs on my nails! I do like this colour combination though.

There will be another TPC manicure on Thursday!

My First Ever Guest Post!

Greetings All!

Today I did my first ever guest post, for the lovely Charlie at Pocket Money Polishes! Head on over there if you like dinosaurs and polka dots!

Rosy Stampwich

Greetings All!

A few weeks ago (or maybe months!) I decided I would try and post slightly more 'work appropriate' nails on a Monday. I think I did one, then forgot about it! Recently I've had mostly naked nails at work (well, 2 coats of Gelous naked).

Sometimes though, my addiction takes over and I have to polish. This is one of those 'hey, you'll barely even notice me!' manicures.

The base is 2 coats of OPI Barre My Soul (again!), stamped with Konad White, Sally Hansen Cinna Snap and PUEEN27, with 2 more coats of BMS on top. I don't know why I decided to add a red accent nail - I think I like it more than the white though!

Platinum Purpleage

Greetings All!

There is no Sun-Tried-Day today, as such. I'm steering away from swatches, as I don't really think they're my strong point! I'll still show off my indies from time to time (because I can't help myself!), but what I'm trying to do at the moment with my untrieds is incorporate them into some sort of nail art. The easiest way for me to do this is to stamp over them. And today I'm stamping over an untried, with an untried!

The base is Jessica Purple Edge, and honestly it's the kind of colour I'd steer away from. It has a very fine silver shimmer to it, just the kind I hate! I thought I would give it a try, but no, not for me. I then stamped with Sinful Colors Gone Platinum, and BM316. It's weird - whenever I look at foily metallics, my first thought is 'will you stamp?' This one did! I don't think it covered enough of the base though!

Cheetah Print

Greetings All!

I love animal print nails. My favourite is either leopard or tiger, depending on my mood! Today, though, I've gone for Cheetah print, which is kind of like leopard print, but even easier!

They're very simple, but I still think they're pretty cute!

The base is Avon Nailwear Pro in Sunshine, and the dots are Revlon Hot For Chocolate.

What's your favourite animal print?

GlitterBunny - You Can Do It, Brucey!

Greetings All!

I have a quick little indie swatch for you. I recently bought four GlitterBunny polishes - I've already shown you Strawbermelon, and today is the turn of You Can Do It, Brucey!

This is one thin coat over Barry M Turquoise.

This polish was so packed with glitter! I had to wipe quite a bit off the brush, much like the Glitzology polishes I'm so fond of (but it didn't need as much topcoat!). Great glitter payoff, and I like the colour combination. Even though it's very sparkly, it's still quite soft and pretty.

You can buy GlitterBunny polishes here (and the shipping is really cheap!).

I still have two more to show you, from the Birthday Girl collection, so look out for those!
