Llama Nails Nerd Challenge - Inspired By Video Games

Greetings All!

Second post of the day! I've had a productive day organising polish. As my collection grows, I find myself having to rearrange everything in order to fit it all in! It's finally starting to come together though - my untried pile is even getting smaller! Mostly because I haven't been adding to it.

Confession! I did break my no-buy rule, last Friday and again today, but I don't feel too bad about it. I think if I can continue only buying the most special of polishes on occasion (instead of just buying it because it is there!), I'll do OK. No more buying polish because I am bored, or sad, or hungry lol.

Today I am being inspired by video games for the Llama Nails Nerd Challenge.

I do play video games, but not cool video games. I like Mario and Sonic, and games where you raise animals, like Hamsterz (I loved that game!). Lame video games. Childish video games. The best video games.

My favourite game of all is Animal Crossing, especially Wild World on the DS. I think there were a good three or four years where I played it every day. My favourite thing to do was create hybrid flowers! So here are my nails, based on the grass from Animal Crossing: Wild World.

Technically the grass in my town is triangles, but you can get circular grass, which was much easier to do! The base is OPI Jade Is The New Black, and the dots are Revlon Emerald and Color Club Sunrise Canyon.

Relaxed 31DC Week 22 - Inspired By A Song

Greetings All!

It's Friday! Double Challenge Friday! I've really been enjoying my nail art recently, despite the heat! Maybe it distracts me. Anyway, today I am inspired by a song. I had several ideas for this week (at one point I even considered doing a whole week of song based manicures!) but in the end I chose one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands, On Mercury by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

So this is a base of W7 Metallic Mercury, and on it are lemon trees, obviously lol. I used OPI The 'It' Colour and Jade Is The New Black over Alpine Snow for them.

Tri Polish Challenge July 2013 - Manicure 4

Greetings All!

Quick post today. This is the last TPC manicure of the month - stay tuned next month for more!

I used Barry M Gellys in Blueberry, Blue Grape and Key Lime.

Here's what I did!

This is my least favourite of the four! It's supposed to be 3D dots, but it's a bit of a fail! There's something about dots - I just can't seem to work with them!

UK Indies - TarasTalons - Polish Polishes!

Greetings All!

OK, I've officially had enough of the hot weather! It's really messing with my concentration - I can't seem to focus on anything!

Today I have 2 more polishes from TarasTalons to share with you. I can't get enough of these at the moment! I've been wearing the slightly subtler shades for work recently. Both of these polishes have 'polish' in their name, which I think is really fun!

This is 2 coats of Do You Feel Polished, Punk?

I'm not always the biggest fan of yellows - they don't tend to look great on me, and they can be a streaky mess! This one isn't though. It has a hefty dose of rainbow glitter, and it gives pretty brilliant coverage. A lovely little polish. And I love the name!

This is 2 coats of Polish Is What Feelings Look Like.

This is blue glitter in a very pale pink base. It isn't quite as full on as some of Tara's other polishes - it's softer and more gentle but still very pretty! Another good polish for work - subtle, but with that hint of glitter that I need!

As usual, these polishes are both one-offs, completely unique, and fabulous!

Tri Polish Challenge July 2013 Manicure 3

Greetings All!

Another late-ish post - I prefer to post in the afternoon, but today I was out shopping for a new Helmer! Because my first one is full. At some point I'm going to have to count my polishes, and face the real number! Not today though, Today we stay in denial.

A kind of abstract, floral, freehand thing. I can't decide if I like it or hate it! Elements of both probably!

My brush skills are looking a bit rubbish here, but I'm blaming the heat - it makes it really difficult to concentrate!

Chirality Cereal Killer Collection

I guess July has unofficially become indie month round here! Confession - in May and June I splashed out a bit on some indie polishes. I now have quite the little collection! So obviously I'm compelled to share. I bought these polishes here.

I've been eyeing up these beauties for a while. They combine loads of things that I like - glitter in a crelly base, bad puns, and murder lol. It was never 'if' I was going to buy them. It was always a case of 'when', because they are just so me! I know that the names are not everyone's cup of tea, but they are clearly done with tongue firmly in cheek, and personally I think they are fabulous! Worst case scenario - ignore the names and just look at all the glitter!

To save money, and make sure I could try the whole collection, I ordered the mini set. There's 8 polishes in total, and with shipping, it would have worked out quite expensive! However now, of course, I need the full size bottles, so I haven't really saved any money!

The little mini bottles did provide me with a bit of a dilemma though. I didn't want to just swatch them and take them off, as that would waste them! But I did want to try them on, and it might have taken months to do if I just waited until I wanted to wear one. So I decided to try them on one finger each, to get a better idea of what they looked like on the nail.

Things get a bit picture heavy from here, so I'll launch straight in! To save me repeating myself, these all applied beautifully. They are all one coat over white (Sally Hansen Ivory Skull), apart from Frosted Speck which is over 2true shade 11, and the glitter payoff is just fantastic! There was a little bit of dabbing involved with the larger glitters, but nothing unmanageable. Generally speaking, they are great polishes to use.

The collection was released in two parts. This is the first part.

Hare Polish - The Last Queen of France Spring 2013

Greetings All!

Today I have swatches of two polishes from Hare's Spring collection. I know these have been everywhere already, but they are my first Hare Polishes, so please bear with me as I point at them proudly lol.

I got both of these from the Sale section at Llarowe. I don't often buy polish from them, but I do check out the sale section now and again because I love a bargain!

This is 2 coats of Own Your Opulence over Revlon Mischievous.

I hesitated a bit over this one, but I liked the black and gold together, so I gave it a try! I'm glad I did - I love the pastels next to the black and gold - it's like it's soft and harsh at the same time, and it reminds me of seashells. I chose to wear it over a neutral brown, but I think it would look great over lots of colours!

This is 2 coats of What I Wore To The Revolution over OPI San Tan-Tonio.

It's not quite black and red glitter, but it's close enough for me to love it! Again I chose a neutral to layer it over, but next time I'll definitely go for something more colourful, like blue or purple. The silver sparkle really ties it all together too. These are all colours that I wear often on my nails, so I can see me wearing this quite a bit!

I know that people rave over Hare polishes, and now I can see why. They are really well put together polishes, with well thought out colour combinations that look great!

Llama Nails Nerd Challenge - Inspired By Technology

Double Challenge Friday means a second challenge post! This time it's the Nerd Challenge, run by Llama Nails. The prompt this week is technology.

I'm not a very technological person (she says, typing on a laptop onto her blog). I don't have a smart phone, or a tablet, or even a television! I use what I need, and I don't pay much attention to the rest! Still, I gave it a go (prepare for many weeks of this challenge where I 'give it a go' lol).

I started with Barry M Black Multi Glitter, which I have been neglecting lately but is fabulous. I then added a thin coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Le Big Party. I was going for a holographic looking, cybery type effect. Then I stamped with Barry M Silver Foil and GA13, GA43, and plates 4, 7 and 10 from the new Cheeky Jumbo plates. Hopefully it's fairly obvious what everything is at least meant to be! I love that the computer is a bit rubbish - how fitting!

Relaxed 31DC Week 21 - Inspired By A Colour

Greetings All!

I know I say it every week, but these Fridays certainly come around fast! Double Challenge Friday means another challenge post coming up later, but for now, I'm being inspired by a colour.

I decided to go for a colour that hadn't already had a separate prompt dedicated to it, and that colour is pink. I like pink polish a lot, which is odd because I'm not a very 'pink' girl at all!

I went with a sort of pink ombre. I decided I wanted to use all OPIs for this, although it meant my colour choice wasn't as perfect as it could have been. But, once I get an idea in my head...

The colours are, from pinky to thumb: Pink Friday, Sparrow Me The Drama, If You Moust, You Moust, Kiss Me On My Tulips and Koala Bear-y.
