Tri Polish Challenge August 2013 - Manicure 1

Greetings All!

It's that time again! Tri Polish Challenge time! This month the colours are red, yellow and green. I have to choose a polish to represent each colour, then create four manicures using those three polishes. Here are the polishes I will be using all this month.

OPI The Thrill of Brazil, The 'It' Color, and Jade Is The New Black.

What a shocker - my most used, and 'go to' red and yellow (see fill line lol). I do like it when all my polishes match, so I chose my favourite OPI green too!

Here is today's manicure.

I wanted to try sugar spun nails again, although this one wasn't as successful as last time! I used W7 Black as my base (which is allowed!) and also some matte topcoat. It was a fine line between getting the polish thick enough to 'spin', and it going into horrible blobs on my nails! I do like this colour combination though.

There will be another TPC manicure on Thursday!

    1. Thank you!

These polishes are a little thicker than the ones i used last time, and they didn't really 'spin' the way I wanted them to. It's a technique I'd like to practice though - I like the effect!

  5. If you make a bigger blob on your paper of polish to spin from, then you can spin from all the different edges and get thinner lines (and do it quicker), whereas if you have a smaller blob it dries faster and therefore goes blobby quicker. Hope that makes sense and is vaguely helpful!

I like sugar spun nails but like you I pick them!

    1. Thank you for the tip!

I think I just need more practice, plus these polishes are slightly on the thicker side as they get a lot of use. I should probably thin them, but I use the red for stamping, and I'm hoping to use the yellow too lol

  6. I just did a spun sugar manicure, and now I love them! I wish they lasted longer though. I love the look when you matte the base color. Perfect!

Yes, they're definitely not very hard-wearing!
