Very First Blog Post!!

Hello to anyone that might read this some day!

My New Years Resolution is to start a nail art blog. I spend SO many hours painting my nails, and I thought it was about time that I did something with that! It's as good a justification as any!

I got into nail art in June 2012. Before then the most adventurous thing I had tried on my nails was a funky french manicure. I became obsessed in a matter of minutes and I have remained that way ever since. I spend at least an hour a day reading blogs, Google image searching for my next manicure, shopping for nail varnish etc.

When I first started, I couldn't believe how easy it was to create such beautiful nails. With picture and video tutorials, and so many blogs and images for inspiration, I have found it relatively easy to create loads of looks.

This blog will mainly focus on nail art. My own personal interpretation of 'real' nail art is done with a tiny brush, and puddles of polish. However I am also getting really into stamping at the moment, so there will be plenty of that! Also probably some methods I consider 'cheating' (nail stickers etc). Over Christmas , for example, I used a lot of snowflake stickers, because I cannot draw them as tiny and perfect!

I don't plan on doing much polish swatching, as I don't think I can offer anything that you cannot find better somewhere else. I am never the first person to get a new collection, and my camera at the moment isn't the best for showing the true colours of polish (as you will see lol). However from time to time I may post some of my favourite polishes, or some that you do not see as much on blogs (unfortunately I don't mean cool indie polishes or expensive imports, more the type you find in cheap little shops that you never see again lol) I do already have some pictures prepared of a beautiful brand of polish I found on eBay and have fallen in love with.

I primarily use British brands (or at least brands easily available in Britain) mostly ones you can buy in Boots or Superdrug, and then I have a nice little OPI collection, some China Glaze glitters, and quite a few random brands bought from eBay. I also own a couple of aenglands, and I am waiting for my first indie glitters to arrive from America!

So I guess that's pretty much everyting I wanted to say. I won't be posting so much text in future, but I felt that I kind of had to explain myself a little bit before I start posting pictures.

I wonder if anyone will ever read this? That's a weird thought. If not, I'm basically just talking to myself. That's ok though I do that anyway!
If you have taken the time to read this, well then I am extremely grateful, and you are obviously a totally awesome person!

Happy polishing,

SpecialGirl

  5. I started my blog because a) I spend hours painting my nails then b) I ended up clogging up my phone memory with pictures so it gave me a place to refer to them all together on line and c) I spend hours looking at everyone else's nails online so wouldn't it be nice to share mine (and was so honoured when people started following me!) Anna's right about joining the FB British Nail Bloggers group.
